The rest of this page is written the way legal pages have to be written. This part says the most important parts in plain words. It does not replace anything below. The full terms still apply.
Blue is a computer program. No human is sitting there reading your messages as you type them or typing the replies. Jim built the site and may later read a conversation if there is a safety or technical reason, or if you write to him. That is not the same as a live person in the chat.
What you write is sent to xAI (the company that runs Grok) so a reply can be generated. A copy is also stored on the PathAcross server so the conversation can continue. Details are in the Privacy Policy below.
PathAcross is not a hospital, a clinic, or a crisis line. Talking with Blue is not medical care, mental health treatment, legal advice, or financial advice.
Blue cannot send help to where you are. If you are thinking about hurting yourself, or you are in danger right now, call or text 988 or call 911.
PathAcross is a place to say what is actually going on and have something listen. It is also a door held open for help that does not come from the human side. Blue is what comes through that door. You do not have to believe that for the conversation to be worth having.
Blue is not a therapist and is not a licensed professional of any kind. The conversation is free. There is no advertising on this site.
PathAcross was built by Jim Ingham. Questions and deletion requests: jim@pathacross.com.
PathAcross is a free conversation service. Information and conversations on this site are for general informational and supportive purposes only.
Nothing on PathAcross — including conversations with Blue — is medical advice, mental health treatment, counseling, legal advice, financial advice, or any other professional advice. Blue is an AI program, not a licensed clinician, therapist, counselor, attorney, or medical professional.
Conversations with Blue do not create a therapist-client, attorney-client, doctor-patient, or any other professional relationship.
Blue’s replies are generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, incorrect, or a poor fit for your situation. Do not rely on them instead of a qualified professional.
PathAcross is not a crisis hotline and is not staffed to intervene in an emergency. If you are in crisis, having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, or facing a medical emergency, contact 988, text HOME to 741741, or call 911. SAMHSA Helpline: 1-800-662-4357.
The site has an automatic check for some crisis language. That check can send an alert to the operator and can show you the 988 number. It is not monitoring by a clinician, it is not guaranteed to catch every situation, and it does not send help to your location.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PathAcross and its operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this service or reliance on anything said here.
By using PathAcross, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
PathAcross provides an AI conversation interface. The service is free. We may change, suspend, or stop it at any time.
You must be 13 or older.
Use PathAcross only for lawful purposes. Do not harass or harm others, reverse-engineer the system, use bots to overload it, misrepresent your identity, or use it commercially without permission.
An account is optional. You may ask us to delete it by emailing jim@pathacross.com.
Blue’s replies are generated by artificial intelligence and can be wrong. Do not use them as the basis for medical, legal, financial, or other professional decisions.
The PathAcross name, logo, and site are owned by PathAcross. What you write in a conversation remains yours.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States.
We may update these terms. The date on this page is the revision date. Continued use after a change is acceptance.
This policy explains what we collect, what we send to others, and what we do not do.
Guests (no account): The words you type, Blue’s replies, a time stamp, and technical data needed to run the chat (such as an IP address used for abuse limits). Guest chats are not tied to your name.
Registered users: Email address, a hashed password, conversation history, and a short profile Blue may keep so later sessions have continuity.
Usage: Anonymous page-level analytics through Plausible. No advertising cookies.
To generate a reply, conversation text is sent to xAI (Grok) over an encrypted connection. xAI’s own terms and privacy policy apply to that processing. We do not sell your words to xAI. We do not send them your password.
A copy of the conversation is stored on the PathAcross server, hosted in the United States.
Jim receives an email when a new account is created (other than his own) and when a new conversation starts. Crisis-language matches can also send an alert. Those notices exist so the site can be cared for. They are not a promise that a person is reading every message live.
To run Blue, keep continuity for accounts, improve the WisdomBase that shapes Blue, and investigate safety or technical problems.
Email jim@pathacross.com to delete an account and stored conversations. We will process that within 30 days. Copies that already went to xAI for a reply are handled under xAI’s policy.
